Pictures + Black Carpet = Not A Good Look

As I was blogging today and came across pictures from last night's Glamour Women of the Year Awards I was bothered.

Anyone who wore black (or black shoes even) was completely washed out from this dreadful black carpet. Here, as you can see, or you CAN'T see Tyra's black Gucci gown in the picture.

I don't really understand the purpose of the black carpet in the first place. Red has been working for years now hasn't it? If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I rest my case.

Look of the Day: Kerry Washington and Molly Sims

Here, Kerry Washington dons a fabulous gold sequins dress at the L'Oreal Legends Gala last night in New York. Anything gold and sparkly is a winner in my book...it must be my inner gay man speaking.

Kerry was gonna be the sole look of the day until I saw Molly Sims looking like awesome in this white dress. There's something about white in the fall/winter. When it's done right, it's absolutely breathtaking...

...more about how to do white in winter later. Kudos to Kerry and Molly. Check out some other lovely looks from last night...

Kodak Moment: Valentino

When I saw this I couldn't help but wonder what was going through his head when they took this picture. Here, iconic designer Valentino Garavani poses with a Carnaval dancer at a party in Rio de Janeiro. Hands down the kodak moment of the WEEK!

Louis Vuitton Gets a New Holiday Look

I was checking out one of my favorite blogs, Nitrolicious and saw that the Louis Vuitton store on Fifth Avenue in NYC got a fabulous new look.

How do you like the new look?

The flagship store was wrapped in the Takashi Murakami Multicolore Monogram this past weekend. (Remember Jessica Simpson used to carry around that handbag in "Newlyweds"? I was obsessed with that thing!)

Are Two Tone Tights Acceptable?

After reading around a bit, I've discovered that this new two tone tight trend is apparently catching on. Chanel did some and last month fashionista Sarah Jessica Parker channeled her inner Carrie Bradshaw strutted a a pair herself.

Are these acceptable?

I say so. In fashion, there are NO rules...you can definitely get away with these as long as you make them look good.

Forever 21 to Open 100,000 Square Foot Store

Popular retailer, Forever 21, plans to open a 100,000 sq. ft. store in Times Square sometime next year.

I absolutely love this store! And I don't care what's going on, I will be at the opening. Seriously, this place is going to be like a shopping mecca. The store in SoHo is incredible at 21,000 sq. ft. I even thought the new location in Perimeter Mall here in Atlanta was impressive so I kid you not when I say this place is going to overwhelm me.

This is huge and impressive, especially with the way things are going in the economy. But no fears for XXI. The company brought in over $1.3 billion in sales last years and plan to beat that number with $1.8 billion sales in 2008 overall.

Viva La XXI!

Look of the Day: Alicia Keys

Beyonce was daring Alexander McQueen but I vow Alicia today's winner.
