The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre's 50th Anniversary

I’m jealous.

Last night, Oprah and many others attended the opening night of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre 50th anniversary at the New York City Center.

For those of you who don’t know. This is a big deal. The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre was the first all black dance company and overall a pretty big deal. Before his death, Mr. Ailey had created 79 ballets and now AAADT has performed over 200 works. The first date the fiancé took me on was to see AAADT last February at the Fox Theatre . As a dancer, myself, I was inspired, swept away and completely in awe of the performance. The AAADT 50th Anniversary tour will be stopping in Atlanta in February again and I definitely plan on being in attendance. If you haven’t been, do yourself a favor and go. Especially if you’re a dancer.

You’ll thank me later.
